Turning the Electric On.

I figured setting up an account with EDF (France's electric company) would be easy. After all, there are numerous offices scattered throughout the city. Mais non! The first office, the closest to the apartment, was permanently closed. The second told me that I need the name of the previous rentee. They were not nice at all, so after I found the name I went to another office. Office closed. The fourth, an extemely nice office, said the previous rentee did not exist in their computer system. And what's more, I would have to come back again with the electric counter ID number before they could do anything. Marvelous. It's the middle of winter and no heat.

It's All Mine

This week, after leaving over 50 messages, seeing 4 places and running around in circles, I nabbed an apartment! Someone actually rented to me! It's in the 11th arrondissement, close to la Republique and the Marais. Only a 10 minute walk to the Bastille!!! Now all I have to do is move in....

Day Seventy Four: M.A.S.H.

Remember playing M.A.S.H. in middle school? If you're a American girl, chances are that you spent a great deal of time figuring out your future husband, job and living arrangements through this childish, yet awesome fortune telling game. I introduced it to my students as a way to work on the future tense. You should have seen my 18 years olds rolling on the floor with laughter at their classmates future lives! "I will, ah, live in a mansion with, ah, ze 40 children of my wife who iz a garbageman er woman." The simple things in life really are the best.

Thanks Penn State!

Met up with a current PSU student and a PSU professor for lunch. I devoured a lovely hot goat cheese salad with a tangy raspberry balsamic vinaigrette compliments of my alma mater. Great conversation. Free food. I love being an alumna.

Moving Out

No more locking my bedroom door. No more naked yoga. No more dirty socks in the kitchen sink. No more pubic hairs lining the tub. No more silent treatment, lies or thievery. Done with the late night walks through the industrial park. Done with neighbors barging in without knocking. Done with random strangers in my apartment. Done with being watched. I've moved!!! YAY! I'm living with Little J until I find a place.
